Selection Application Management System (SAMS)

The replacement of SIMS that went live on 14 May 2010

Component Application Testing (CAT)

This is the process to 'iron out' bugs related to functionality and usability in the various components that make up RIDE. This work is carried out by GPET, their developers and some RTP staff seconded to aid in the testing. CAT focuses on end to end testing specific to RIDE functionality and workflow. Once this testing phase is complete, the product is released to the RIDE Focus Group for further testing.

The outcome of CAT processes is the input to the next testing phase - Systems Integration Testing.

Systems Integration Testing (SIT)

This phase of testing is to check the interdependencies of the systems that need to be 'in sync' with RIDE before it can 'go live'; SAMS, RIDE and the GPET Data Warehouse.  SIT focuses on ensuring that the full lifecycle of events can be performed across the various systms.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

This phase of testing is performed by end users and is to ensure that the end to end business processes and associated workflow are available in a 'bug free' product. This environment closely mirrors the production system and the business environment.

Data migration (DM)

The act of moving historical data from IRIS into the MDS. Required for historical record keeping and reporting requirements to meet AGPT strategic and operational needs.

Data quality (DQ)

A process that involves GPET and RTP's ensuring data in IRIS (up until the date it is decommissioned) is correct and MDS compliant.

Extract Transform and Load (ETL)

The process to extract data from one source, transforming it into an appropriate form for loading into a database. In this case, moving MDS from RIDE into the Data Warehouse.
