Academic Workshops

GPET runs two different types of workshops for registrars interested in research and undertaking academic posts, they are:

  1. The Registrar Research Workshop: this workshop is aimed at introducing interested registrars to research in the primary health care setting.
  2. The Academic Registrar Workshop: this workshop is run for registrars who are currently undertaking an Academic Post.

Both workshops are held in conjunction with the Primary Health Care Research and Information Service's (PHC RIS) annual conference. Attendance at the Conference is available to all registrars whose applications for either workshop is accepted.

Registrar Research Workshop Brisbane: Monday 11-Tuesday 12 July 2011

The Registrar Research Workshop is an annual event aimed at introducing interested registrars to research in the primary health care setting. Academic GPs will guide participants through the life of a project including the introduction of specific skills required when undertaking such a post.

GPET offers a limited number of fully-funded places for the 2011 Registrar Research Workshop with the option to also attend the PHC Research Conference (see conference information below for further details).

Academic Registrar Workshop Brisbane: Monday 11-Tuesday 12 July 2011

The Academic Registrar Workshop is provided for registrars who are currently undertaking a post in academic research. The workshop is aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of a registrar through professional development sessions.

Registrars attending the 2011 Academic Registrar Workshop also have the opportunity to attend the PHC Research Conference (see conference information below).

All registrars undertaking an academic post are encouraged to apply for this workshop and the PHC Research Conference as they represent excellent opportunities to meet academic colleagues and take away ideas and inspiration.

Please note: a second Academic Registrar Workshop will be held in the second half of the year for those registrars starting their Academic Post in July.

 

Primary Health Care Research and Information Service (PHC RIS)

PHC RIS is a national government funded organisation that aims to support research in general practice. Each year PHC RIS runs the Primary Health Care Research Conference, a premier primary health care networking event.

2011 Primary Health Care Research Conference Brisbance: Wednesday 13-Friday 15 July 2011

This year's conference entitled: "2011 Primary Health Care Research Conference - Inspirations, collaborations, solutions" provides an opportunity for researchers to present research findings and discuss research methodology. GPET funding is available for registrars attending the Registrar Research or Academic Registrar workshops to also attend the PHC Research Conference from 13-15 July 2011, in Brisbane.

Registrars attending the PHC Research Conference, will be encouraged to contribute to a daily informal blog on their experiences, thoughts of the conference, and a short report on how they intend to share their experience of both the Registrar Research Workshop/Academic Registrar Workshop and the PHC Research Conference to other registrars.
