GPET Awards
Nominations open on 15 April 2008 and close on 25 May 2008 for the 5th Annual GPET Awards, to be presented at the GPET Convention in Wollongong in August.
The awards are designed to honour significant contributions from people involved in general practice education and training, including registrars, supervisors, educators and RTP staff.
There are six GPET Awards:
GPET Medical Observer GP Registrar of the Year
GPET Medical Observer GP Supervisor of the Year
GPET Medical Educator of the Year
RTP Staff Excellence Award
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Training Award
RTP Innovation Award
Each award will be judged by a panel of four judges including a registrar, a supervisor, a GPET Board member and a senior medical educator from the Convention's host RTP (Coast City Country Training). The judges' decisions will be based upon the following:

All those involved in general practice education and training (excluding the four judges and GPET staff) can submit nominations in all six categories.
The winner of each award will receive $2,500 towards registration, accommodation, travel and expenses for a medical or professional development conference or, in the case of the RTP Innovation award, $2,500 towards project funding for the winning RTP.
The 2008 Medical Observer GPET Registrar of the Year will also be offered the opportunity to travel to London in the first week of October 2008 to help promote the AGPT program at the BMJ Careers Fair.
If the winner chooses to attend the Careers Fair, she/he will be accompanied by a GPET staff member and will receive training on the correct information to present to potential AGPT applicants (e.g eligiblity requirements, the application and selection process). Airfares, accommodation and travel expenses will be funded by GPET.
